Optimization of energy transmittance through building envelope for hot dry climate

Fenestrations of the buildings are playing an important role in building’s energy efficiency for tropical climate. The that comes from glass window into building can be restricted by providing shading on windows. So, to provide window, most common way is fixed shade like overhang and fin. Shading devices very helpful control SHGC light transmittance through fenestrations building. Most studies analyze impact WWR, shadings, a demand but did not consider combined effect these parameters. By considering all parameters envelope analysis orientation, devices, projection factor, type glass, significantly reduced. goal this paper variation residential value with window-wall ratio, also optimize elements using statistical method, namely Taguchi method. calculated 8 cardinal directions fin overhang. Based result, optimum saving achieved selecting combination process minimizing A1B1C3D2 i.e. wall ratio 7%, triple glazing used, fin, orientation west direction. result shows significant factor among selected parameter ratio. Also, focusing parameters, architectural designer may reduce offer more alternatives achieve energy-efficient buildings.
